Thursday, March 04, 2010 — New Winter Stuff Hey Guys...There's a couple of Solo shows on the horizon, starting with a return to Ludwigs/Glenside, PA this Saturday, March 6th at 8PM. I'll be at Ludwig's the first Saturday of every month. Next Friday, March 12th I'll be at the Hard Bean in Boyertown, PA at 8PM...there'll be a $5 cover (pays mostly me) and I'll start at 8PM I'll be continuing my Sunday residency at Zeno's Pub/State College, PA this March 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th with JK...it will (most likely) continue into April... Couple gigs coming up, weather permitting, of course...I will send out a cancellation e-mail close to show time if that's the case, so check your e-mail (or call the venue) before you head out if there is any question. First off, Julie & I will be back at Bixler's Lodge in Stoney Creek Mills, PA on Friday the 12th at 10PM, no cover. Come eat and enjoy the fireplace... Saturday, February 13th I'll be returning to the Five Points Inn in Trumbauersville, PA at 8PM. - no cover/ SOLO ACOUSTIC On Sunday the 14th I will resume my weekly Sunday residency at Zeno's Pub in State College, PA at 9PM. with JK on upright bass...we'll be there every Sunday now for a while... Next week Kris Kehr & Stone Poets will visit PUB2 in Danville, PA 10PM on Saturday the 20th - This will be big fun, as not only the full band playing at a cool smaller venue, but there will be an 'Elk-Tossing Fund Raiser' going on - Party! -In other news, Black Mountain Underground will return to Homegrownradionj every Monday at noon with new one hour shows. I will continue to produce original podcasts for the BMU Blog as well. Here is a sneak peak at the first show. This past weekend I was lucky enough to perform with a very talented bunch of guys in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the release of Old & In The Way at the River Street Jazz Cafe in Plains, PA. Put together by club kingpin Tom Moran, the ensemble was Mike Miz (guitar), Dylan (bass) & Pappy (banjo) from Cabinet, Anthony Hannigan (fiddle) from Hickory Project, Matt Cullen (drums) and myself on mandolin. We're looking to find another date during the summer but until then, below is a compilation of some of my favorite moments of the night, about an hours worth in all. Located next to Kelly's Steak & Seafood (the place with the giant cow on the roof) on business Rt. 322, the Bar is a small listening room with a lot of character. The second show will be at Zeno's Pub on Sunday the 24th with JK on upright bass and other friends sitting in which may, at any time, include the other guys in Stone Poets, Rev. James (keys), Dr. Dave (pedal-steel) and either drummers Matt or Justin. My Sunday night residency will continue through the spring, every Sunday from 9 to 12. Next Saturday, January 30th I return to Ludwig's Inn and Oyster bar in Glenside, PA with a solo show starting at 8PM, no cover. Saturday, February 6th I will play mandolin as part of a tribute to the acoustic music of Jerry Garcia, in particular the 35th anniversary of the release of the Old & In The Way album with Dylan and Pappy from Cabinet, Mike from Miz and Anthony Hannigan from Hickory Project. The show is a one-off, so the only time you can catch it is at the River Street Jazz Cafe in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Tickets Here... The Phil Stahl Show/WXLV-FM every Thursday 3-6PM I'm happy to announce that I''l be returning to the airwaves with my old friend Phil Stahl as side-kick, co-host, etc on 'The Phil Stahl Show' broadcast live on WXLV 90.3FM in the greater Lehigh Valley area, as well as ONLINE, from 3-6PM. I did that show with Phil for years back in the early 90's and had returned a few times before the show was canceled a few years back when the station was run by different management. The show format consists of 3 segments, an hour of banter first, followed by some live local recordings finished by a live in-studio performance by a different band/performer each week. Phil usually let's me play one or two during the 3 hours, really anything happens. That will be happening Thursdays 3-6PM. I've just posted a new Black Mountain Underground show, NUMBER 5. You can listen or download (for free in MP3 form) 71 minutes of rare live music placed lovingly in order. Read more about this show here. In performance news, I'll be back to my Sunday night residency at Zeno's Pub in State College, PA this Sunday, January 10th from 9-12.
