This week is a busy one, starting off Thursday, July 30th with a Youngers show before the game at Reading Phillies Stadium from 5 to 6:30PM. I do have a couple tickets left if anyone needs some (free), e-mail me, first come, first serve.

The Youngers will also play a set at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA next week on Thursday the 6th. We'll be at Liederplatz from 5 to 6:30, and that's free.




On Friday, July 31st I'll be playing two sets of solo acoustic stuff at the Taproom in Reading, PA starting at 10PM with no cover.

The next day, Saturday August 1st I'll also play a solo acoustic show in Danville, PA at The Pub II at 10PM, also no cover. Earlier in the day I'll be with the Manatawny Creek Ramblers at Frecon Farms Peach Festival near Boyertown, PA at 1PM. I won't be playing every MCR show from now on, so check here before you go if you were looking for that version of the band.

This and most EVERY SUNDAY I'll be at ZENO's in State College, PA from 9 to midnight. Most of the time is with my pal JK on upright bass although sometimes Doc & Rev from Stone Poets might sit in while other times solo. On August 2nd I suspect we might be a trio with Doc.

PAVLOV'S DAWGS/Kris and Michael Beaky used to be in this band way before The Manatawny Creek Ramblers, from roughly 1989-93. After Kris replaced original bassist Tom Walz and joined Michael and guitarist Jesse Grim, they had two mandolin players (Rich Bernardin, Dave Fry) and released two albums, Live At Godfrey's & Smells Like Bluegrass (both out-of-print). Hey Everyone...

a big thanks to the guys in Max Creek and Scott Murawski in particular for once again extending a generous friendly hand and having me up onstage for an incredible jam...make sure you check out Scott at one of several appearance his new project with Bill Kreutzman are making at festivals this summer...hopefully there will be a tour in the fall...

-this was the successful recent show Mike and I did together..the first set we play separately, the second was together and a lot of fun...Mike and I will most likely be working together again on an 'all-star' project revolving around the acoustic roots music of Jerry Garcia and Old & In The Way/Garcia-Grisman that is to take place on the anniversary of the Old & in the Way album early next year. I'll let you know more when I hear it.

The new Manatawny Creek Ramblers EP 'Meet Me By The Moonlight' is now available on CDBaby...

I have recently been working on a new blog and podcast for Black Mountain Underground, my old radio show...it'll be close to what I used to produce for Homegrownradionj, but maybe a little longer than a strict hour and you will be able to hear it in it's entirety whenever you choose..the first show will be a mix bag featuring some rare studio and live stuff as well as a sampling of official release things for perspective. Every other show will most likely feature one particular thing, such as Steve Earle's collaboration with Del McCoury, or Dylan's mid-90's acoustic soundboards, etc..plus I'll be able to provide more back story for what You listen to with the blog, so keep an eye out for that. Since I've been teaching myslef how to actually produce a podcast, I'm also going to periodically produce one's with a focus on my musical output for this particular page.

Wednesday, TOMORROW the 8th I'll be playing solo acoustic at Emily's on RT. 10 outside Mohnton, PA from 6 to 9PM, no cover with great food. I play this one every other Wednesday through the summer, so I'll be back 7/22, 8/5 & 19...

On Friday the 10th I'll be playing solo acoustic on the deck at Berties near Stoney Creek Mills from 7 to 10. I might pop in on Skrappy from MCR who's at the Tap Room at 10, too...

the next day, the Manatawny Creek Ramblers will be playing as part of the Quigley Summer Fest '09 near Mechanicsburg, PA.

Then on Sunday, July 12th I'll be back with STONE POETS at Zeno's Pub in State College during Art's Fest with JK, Rev and Skrappy guesting on drums and getting ready for our set at the Jammin' for the Animals Humane Society Benefit at Blue Falls Grove on July 25th. Hopefully our good friend Dave Mudgett will sit in on Sunday well.
