Wednesday, October 28, 2009 — New Live Stone Poets/Upcoming Shows Hey Everybody- First off, there's a new free live Kris Kehr & Stone Poets album available as an mp3 podcast here and below...I have all 13 tracks posted as one on the Black Mountain Underground website but separately, the first 3 tracks are below; I've broken the separate tracks posting into 3 parts, so the next one will be available when I post the next news blog here. There are two medleys, so that's 6 tunes on 3 tracks, mixed from 8-channel ADAT. Kris Kehr & Stone Poets/Live at the Bullfrog Brewery 10/10/092) Long Time Ago 3) All Along the Watchtower> Time for Breakin' Out> Lodi Lotta good stuff happening in November, starting off with a solo trip back to the Elk Creek Cafe in Milheim, PA on the 8th. Stone Poets played there this past summer and I'm looking forward to a Sunday afternoon solo return. The band returns there sometime this winter, I'll keep you posted. I'll also be recording a solo set for my old pal Phil Stahl on Tuesday, November 17th at the Center Valley Tavern on RT. 309 just S of RT. 78, around 8PM for an hour. He'll be re-broadcasting that hour at some point in the future and I'll let you know when that is. -For those of you who don't know, I used to be Phil's side-kick on his old radio program called 'the Valley Music Scene' on WXLV and while Phil remains the king of Lehigh Valley open-mics (and somewhere near the center of the musical universe there in general) he lost that Wednesday afternoon slot. A few years after I left the program to move to State College, public radio took over programming and WXLV became a more 'serious' station, wrestling the power from the students at LCCC in Schnecksville, PA where the studios are housed. I don't know if it was the economy or just a wishful-thinking take-over or both, but the power is being shifted back to the students (in general) and now there are plans afoot to revive the Valley Music Scene as a team, which I am in favor of. Not everybody likes the student station all the time, but it's positives are more varied programming, whether you like it all or not, which is kind of the point. Keep in mind there are now many styles represented and a more direct voice from the student body (I do believe Mike Wuerstle is keeping his sunday bluegrass show) Public radio is still well represented in that area and we certainly don't need more of the same. Now, if we can only get a repeater down in the Berks County area so we can start having some decent radio programming in the air here. But I digress...DOWNLOAD- Here are a few more solo acoustic tracks recorded by Otto at the Five Points Inn in Trumbauersville, PA on 8/25/09. Look for a return to the Five Pints on December 5th. Human Highway (Neil Young) Our Dreams Back Then (Kris Kehr) Gone Are Those Days (Kris Kehr) That's the Way That the World Goes 'Round (John Prine) On Thursday the 19th I'll be traveling to the River Street jazz Cafe in Plains, PA to open for for my friends Dylan & Pappy from Cabinet. tba (around 9-10PM) I'll also be playing with James Jewell and his band the Worms on Wednesday the 25th, TBA...I'll let you know a little more about that down the line, but I am looking forward to that one, should be fun...you can see all the rest of the info below...thanks!
